EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DUBAI: A QUICK OVERVIEW OF DUBAI TRAVEL INFORMATION
1. DUBAI, A SHORT TRAVEL GUIDE
Dubai has some historical landmarks . This includes the Dubai Creek , the oldest port in the city. Dubai grew out of a community of pearl divers and fishermen and it was in this port that pearls were sold.
Even today, traditional dhows (ships) can still be seen here, with which fishermen earn their living. The old town with a museum on the city’s history as well as historical buildings and mosques is also located near Dubai Creek. Here you can stroll through the gold or spice market and soak up the atmosphere in you.
Dubai is of course even better known for its spectacular new buildings and construction projects. From 2001, Dubai had two new islands of its own planned, which were heaped up in the shape of a palm tree on rocks and sand. The more famous of these is the Palm Jumeirah Island , which extends over 4 kilometers in length and 6 kilometers in width into the sea.
This is also where Dubai’s largest underwater world is located in Atlantis the Palm. Dubai’s shopping centers are also gigantic and are among the largest in the world. The Dubai Mall is located next to the Burj Khalifa and has its own ice rink and aquarium on its 350,000 square meters. There is a spectacular water show right next to the Burj Khalifa.
The Mall of the Emirates is another well-known shopping center of similar dimensions with its own ski hall. The Dubai Marina offers many different entertainment options with its numerous canals, yachts, restaurants and shopping opportunities. The landmark of Dubai, the Burj Al Arab and the pyramid-like Wafi City Mall are also worth a trip.
Dubai is also known for its beaches. The most famous is the iconic Jumeirah Beach. As a community tip, the Al Sufouh Beach, which is not very crowded, but still offers views of the Burj Al Arab and the Jumeirah palm, and the Mamzar Beach Park, which is considered a remote gem.
A vacation in Dubai should definitely include a trip to the desert . The magnificent play of colors and the amazingly diverse fauna will stay in your memory for a long time.
2. THE BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO DUBAI
Dubai, as a desert country, is constantly characterized by hot temperatures. That is why it is important to keep an eye on the best travel time for Dubai . The average temperature is very high at 27 degrees Celsius. In summer it can rise to 41 to 45 degrees Celsius ! On average there is rain one day a month in winter. Rain is almost impossible in summer.
Nevertheless, especially in summer, the humidity is unbearably high due to the sea fog. The sea is also very warm now and not really refreshing. It makes most sense to travel to Dubai in the cooler winter months from November to March.
3. MEANS OF TRANSPORT IN DUBAI
The Dubai Metro , the Dubai Tram and the Palm Monorail serve as public transport in Dubai . The Dubai Metro goes to attractions such as the Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina, the Gold Souk and Dubai’s financial district.
With the Dubai Tram you can visit sights such as the Palm Jumeirah, the Dubai Marina and the Jumeirah Lakes Towers. The Palm Monorail, on the other hand, enables you to get around directly on the island of Palm Jumeirah.
Buses are available in the form of the hop-on hop-off bus that goes past the main attractions. Otherwise there are also local bus routes.
➜ City tour: explore Dubai with the hop-on / hop-off bus
Another option is always to take one of the countless taxis that are not only available in Dubai on the street but also as water taxis. You can find out more about this on the official homepage.
